performer , musician, educator
hi, there!
I’m Kennedy McAlister (she/her) and I grew up in small town Oklahoma where - yes - I was in the musical Oklahoma! three times. I received Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and English Writing at Oklahoma Christian University, and then went on to earn my Masters of Music in conducting from the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. Now, I call Philadelphia home and have enjoyed working as a performer and as a music director in the Philly theatre scene and in theaters across the country. (And recently, across the globe! Ask me about Japan.)
I am a trained musical theatre mezzo-belter, as well as a classically trained soprano. I consider myself flexible in both range and genre, having experience in musical theatre ensembles of all shapes and sizes, choral groups like the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, pop cover bands, and singer-songwriter trios. Reading and holding intricate and (sometimes) wacky harmonies is my bread and butter.
Also trained as an educator, I work with individuals and groups of all skill levels and ages, and love the collaboration and community that comes from making music. Thanks for stopping by!
