Directing

I love working with young minds, and particularly young minds who love being on stage. My own musical career began with and was enriched with the communal joys of theater, and thus I aspire to enrich the lives of other students by fostering a safe environment for growth through musical theater. It is my experience that students who participate in such communities learn life lessons that transcend the stage— adaptability, empathy, inclusivity, and patience. They also learn how to be unashamedly themselves and what it means to be accepted as one’s self.

Acting onstage helps young minds learn to take risks. My personal directing philosophy is one of encouragement through possibilities; I always encourage my actors to take a leap “go for it!”, and guide them through a self-reflection process on what works and what does not. If I can create a framework for students to excel through courage, and more self-efficacy, I consider my job well done.
